Procreate is a powerful digital art tool designed specifically for the iPad. It offers a range of creative features that allow artists and designers to create professional-level artwork on the go. One of the key features of Procreate is its brush engine.

Brushes are digital tools that mimic traditional brushes used in various mediums, such as paint, ink, markers, and pencils. These brushes can be customized to mimic various textures, shapes, and patterns, allowing artists to create unique effects in their artwork.

Procreate’s brush engine, called Brush Studio, allows users to create and customize their own unique brushes. This feature allows artists to create brushes that fit their individual style and workflow, making Procreate a powerful tool for creating professional-level artwork.

Using brushes in Procreate is easy. Simply select a brush from the brush library and start drawing or painting on the canvas. The pressure sensitivity of the Apple Pencil allows for natural-looking brush strokes and a more tactile experience. Additionally, brushes can be resized, rotated, and adjusted for opacity and flow to achieve the desired effect.

Procreate brushes can be used to create a wide range of artwork, including illustrations, comics, and concept art. Artists and designers in various fields, such as graphic design, fashion design, and product design, can benefit from using Procreate brushes to create digital mockups and designs.

We’ve curated this collection of free Procreate brush sets to help artists and designers add even more complexity to their digital artwork. The best part about these Procreate brushes is that they’re free, so you can experiment with different styles and techniques without any financial risk.

Gesture icons represent the many touch-enabled interactions that users perform on digital devices, typically mobile. They’re used in UI design to provide a visual cue for actions such as swiping, pinching, tapping, or rotating. They are generally simple, minimal, and designed so that users of all levels can easily understand them.

Many mobile developers use gesture icon sets, or interaction icons, to show new users how to use a new application, or to bridge the learning gap of any new features, making them critical to a mobile application’s user experience and popularity.

By using standardized gesture icons, or interaction icons, across various operating systems (iOS & Android) and devices, designers can create UIs that are easy to use, thus making them user-friendly and accessible.

In this collection, we have fifteen free gesture icon sets for you. The gesture icons come in many different styles, sizes, and, most importantly, formats (Figma, Sketch, PSD, SVG, and EPS). And just like all free resources, please check the license of each icon set, as they can change from time to time.

The Desktop Features You Should Consider Leaving Out on Mobile https://speckyboy.com/desktop-features-leaving-out-on-mobile/ https://speckyboy.com/desktop-features-leaving-out-on-mobile/#respond Wed, 28 Jun 2023 07:39:10 +0000 https://speckyboy.com/?p=151256 We take a look at some desktop features that you should leave out on mobile. Items that are likely to prevent users from getting the most out of your website.

The post The Desktop Features You Should Consider Leaving Out on Mobile appeared first on Speckyboy Design Magazine.

In web design, there is a time and place for features that “wow” users. Jaw-dropping animations, complex graphical effects, and immersive multimedia are a few items that come to mind.

These elements can enhance the user experience (UX). However, one size does not fit all. People consume the web in different ways. There are various screen sizes and connection speeds to consider. Thus, what produces smiles for one user may result in a headache for others.

That’s why it can be hard to duplicate desktop experiences on mobile devices. Some elements may translate perfectly. But others could be cumbersome. It’s here where designers must choose between refactoring or removing the feature.

Today, we’ll take a look at some desktop features that you should consider leaving out on mobile. Generally speaking, these items are likely to get in the way. And they may prevent users from getting the most out of your website.

Complex UI Animations

Animation can be a great tool for grabbing a user’s attention. CSS and JavaScript frameworks make adding movement easier than ever.

But some animations are a better fit for large screens than mobile devices. Consider complex page transition effects. Or UI layouts that include highly-synchronized sequences. On a desktop, they can add personality. Not so much on a phone.

Quickly accessing information is crucial for mobile users. For example, think of a person on the go who is looking for directions to a store. Making them wait while the store’s address cascades into place isn’t efficient – it’s an obstacle.

That’s not to say animation isn’t beneficial on small screens. It may be just the thing for onboarding new users. Context matters, however.

Before passing an animation from desktop to mobile, think about its purpose. How will it impact usability? If it’s purely decorative or could get in the way, you may want to skip it.

Some animations may be an obstacle for mobile users.

Full-Width Sliders and Videos

The use of sliders in modern web design is debatable. On the one hand, a full-width slideshow can still create a compelling visual experience. Yet it can also hog both screen real estate and system resources.

Those drawbacks are exacerbated on mobile devices. And the visual benefit could be nullified as well – especially if the presentation maintains a wide aspect ratio. The images appear smaller on the screen. But the same amount of code is loaded regardless.

With Google pushing its Core Web Vitals metrics, a slider makes achieving a high score that much harder. As such, it could be the difference in whether a website passes muster.

Usability is also a concern. A cropped presentation may make slides harder to read or interact with. You can make an effort to improve the mobile experience. Yet it still may not be enough to justify the performance hit.

Jettisoning a slider doesn’t mean settling for a boring UX, however. Replacing it with a traditional hero area could help maintain messaging without the excess bloat.

Large sliders and video presentations take up precious screen real estate and bandwidth.

Clickable Elements That Require Precise Interaction

Interactive UI elements bring a level of polish to a design. Data visualization tools such as charts and infographics can help users grasp complex concepts. And even simplistic items like accordions and tabbed layouts make for a tidier desktop experience.

But the benefits aren’t always universal. In some instances, interacting with these elements is difficult for mobile users. Specifically, we’re talking about features that require a precise click or touch.

Imagine an interactive pie chart where clicking a “slice” reveals data. Desktop users have more screen real estate to play with. They are also likely to have a pointing device or keyboard to help them navigate.

On a phone, those elements may shrink to fit the smaller screen. And they require the user to touch the chart in precisely the right spot. There’s less margin for error. It may be possible for them to zoom in. But they may have to zoom out again to comfortably read the text.

There is a possible workaround. You could refactor the chart for mobile users. Instead of requiring a touch to access data, displaying a color-coded key would remove this barrier.

Graphs and charts that rely on user interaction may not work well on phones.

One Website, Multiple User Experiences

It’s easy to get caught in the trap of trying to replicate the desktop experience on mobile. It might be well-intentioned. However, there’s also the risk of making things harder for mobile users.

That’s where the concept of progressive enhancement comes in. By building the essential features first, we ensure everyone can access the information they need. From there, we can add those shiny bells and whistles for the devices that benefit from them.

Sometimes that means eschewing or altering a desktop feature for mobile users. Still, clients may not necessarily understand the reasoning behind this logic.

Thus, it’s worth pointing out that a user’s experience with a website will largely depend on their device. The goal isn’t to create a singular UX. Rather, it’s about creating a cohesive one that caters to users.

Hopefully, stakeholders will buy into this concept. Then you can work together towards a website that serves every user.

Better Design and Testing for Mobile Viewport Madness https://speckyboy.com/better-design-and-testing-for-mobile-viewport-madness/ https://speckyboy.com/better-design-and-testing-for-mobile-viewport-madness/#respond Wed, 03 May 2023 07:21:05 +0000 https://speckyboy.com/?p=150022 We discuss the common pitfalls of mobile testing and share some tips for making your designs look great on every screen.

The post Better Design and Testing for Mobile Viewport Madness appeared first on Speckyboy Design Magazine.

These days, every website we build must be responsive. With mobile web usage accounting for over half of all traffic, catering to these users is a no-brainer.

Thankfully, foundational technologies like CSS and JavaScript have made this easier. Web designers no longer need nonstandard hacks or separate mobile templates. Modern layout and document object model (DOM) manipulation techniques allow us to build for all devices.

Testing your designs on mobile, however, is a different story. Ensuring a pixel-perfect look on every phone, tablet, and hybrid device can be a massive challenge.

It doesn’t help that mobile screen resolution is all over the map. In years past, there were a few outliers that defied the expected number of pixels displayed. But now it seems like every smartphone generation comes with a different set of viewport sizes. Not to mention enough quirks (thanks to additions like notches and dynamic islands) to throw off the most carefully-crafted CSS media queries.

That begs the question: how can we design and test with any confidence? Today, we’ll look at the common pitfalls of mobile testing and share some tips for making your designs look great on every screen.

New Devices Are Clashing With Traditional Media Queries

The early years of responsive design brought a fairly standard set of device viewports, such as:

 • Phones (portrait): 320×480 pixels
 • Tablets (portrait): 768×1024
 • Laptops: 1024×768 or 1240×1080
 • Desktops: 1240 and up

We say “fairly” standard, because not every device used these exact viewports. Still, writing CSS media queries within these generic dimensions was a common practice.

That’s not such a safe bet today. Manufacturers have turned those basic guidelines on their heads.

Take the iPhone 14, for example. It has several versions available – and they come with varying viewports:

 • iPhone 14 Pro Max (portrait): 393×786
 • iPhone 14 (portrait) / iPhone 14 Pro (portrait): 390×664
 • iPhone 14 Plus (portrait): 428×746

Mathematically speaking, the differences aren’t huge. But they are enough to potentially disrupt a website’s mobile layout. Thus, you might feel compelled to test each model.

To be fair, this isn’t just an Apple phenomenon. Devices from Samsung, Google, and other manufacturers are adopting similar strategies.

Regardless, it makes a web designer’s job that much harder. And it’s a clear indicator that we need to adjust how we build and test.

Mobile device viewports can change with each product's next generation.

Adapting to the New Mobile Design Landscape

We can’t rely on mobile devices to consistently fall within a specific viewport range. Therefore, it’s up to us to make some adaptations.

Perhaps the biggest single step designers can take is to simplify mobile design. This is already good practice, as overly-complicated layouts don’t tend to work well on small screens. But anything that requires a specific viewport to work is bound to cause headaches.

Building with resiliency in mind is worth the effort. It may not look as fancy. But it will allow content to better adapt to the multitude of screens out there.

In addition, there’s something to be said for letting CSS layout techniques work unfettered. Both CSS Grid and Flexbox are responsive by default. Plus, the control offered by CSS clamp() can take the guesswork out of sizing elements.

By forgoing some of the bells and whistles (on mobile, at least), layouts will be better able to adapt. That means fewer worries about potential breakage as new devices come to market.

Modern CSS layout techniques are responsive by default.

Use Tools To Stay On Top of Testing

Mobile website testing has always been a challenge. But with so many makes, models, and viewports available, it has risen to another level.

The good news is that there are plenty of tools to help. And there are both free and commercial options.

It all starts with your desktop web browser. Virtually every modern browser includes the ability to test on a variety of mobile viewports. And they can also emulate the exact viewports of specific devices.

Here are a few resources to get you started:

 • Chrome – Simulate Mobile Devices with Device Mode.
 • Firefox – Responsive Design Mode.
 • Microsoft Edge – Emulate Mobile Devices.
 • Safari – Web development Tools.

These tools can be a massive help in ensuring that a design works across a wide range of screens. They’re not perfect. But they still provide a lot of insight. And you can’t beat the price!

But what if you need to test a lot of devices and browsers – including some more obscure choices? Doing this one at a time can be incredibly tedious. Plus, it can be difficult to access budget phones and niche browsers.

That’s where commercial tools come into play. Some offer hundreds of real devices to test with. And with automated testing, you can save massive amounts of time. If your project requires this sort of functionality, these services are worth the extra cost.

The bottom line is that no matter your budget, you can test on devices well beyond the ones you own.

Web browser developer tools can help you test on a wide range of viewports.

Beauty and Function on Every Screen

The requirements of a responsive website are becoming more complex all the time. And the glut of unique mobile devices is only adding fuel to the fire.

More than ever, getting things right means a commitment to simplicity in design. It also takes a lot of testing to catch potential issues firsthand.

It may seem like a tall task – but we don’t have to do it alone. There are tools available to make the process easier. Not to mention that modern CSS layout techniques were developed with responsiveness in mind.

The key is to develop a plan for designing, building, and testing for quality. Once established, it’s something that you can rely on for each project.

10 Methods for Optimizing Your Forms for Mobile https://speckyboy.com/10-methods-for-optimizing-your-forms-for-mobile-devices/ https://speckyboy.com/10-methods-for-optimizing-your-forms-for-mobile-devices/#respond Sun, 30 Apr 2023 10:29:06 +0000 http://speckyboy.com/?p=55079 Learn how you can speed up the performance of your customers' mobile transactions and make their online shopping experience better.

The post 10 Methods for Optimizing Your Forms for Mobile appeared first on Speckyboy Design Magazine.

Ask any average adult what object they can’t leave the house without, and you’ll get, along with keys and wallets, a mobile phone as the answer.

Data shows that as of 2023, 6.8 billion people own a smartphone, and that by 2027, that number will rise to 7.7 billion.

These numbers only prove that mobile devices have crossed the border from being a luxury to becoming a basic necessity. If, in the past, our phones were only mere instruments for communication, today, we rely on them when we’re working, entertaining, and shopping.

Optimizing Forms for Mobile Devices

The rise of smartphones, for instance, did not only make shopping easy for consumers. It was also a welcome addition to the already growing online shopping industry.

Over time, not only were business owners busy tending to their brick-and-mortar and/or online stores, they began realizing the importance of mobile devices alongside other channels in reaching their customers.

Forms play a massive part in online shopping, and they have become a staple element in the mobile platform as well. We usually find them when we’re ready to checkout, and the site asks us to provide certain details such as shipping name, address, telephone number, and credit card information.

However, many shoppers find filling in forms tedious, and this can cause the customers’ interest to wane. In addition, online shoppers are usually faced with time pressure and the possibility of an erratic internet connection, and both of these can affect your mobile conversion rate.

Listed below are ten ways you can speed up the performance of your customers’ mobile transactions and make their online shopping experience satisfactory.

1. Include Only the Important Details in Your Forms

If you don’t have the patience to fill a whole web page worth of forms when shopping online, your customers probably feel the same. There’s a difference between answering a full-on membership form and filling in a simple one and buying something from an online store.

Compared to the latter, the former option can be dragging, and you risk losing your customer when they get bored once they find out they have to provide three different phone numbers.

Include only the important details in your forms

Make mobile shopping convenient by giving your customers a simple yet complete order form. Do this by asking only the important details such as their full name, email address, phone number, shipping details, and credit card information.

You can also include a dropdown menu of the states or countries you deliver to, or better yet, allow your mobile app to ask the customers to use their location. This way, getting their address will be faster and more accurate.

2. Use Top-Aligned Labels & Fields

Smartphones have a limited view compared to computers, so it’s important that you design a form that can maximize this constraint. One way to do this is by using vertical alignment for the fields of your form.

You see when you use a horizontally-aligned form, there is a tendency that not everything will fit in a smartphone’s view, and it’s either the label or the input field that will be compromised. Such a case can be cumbersome to shoppers and can diminish their interest.

Use top-aligned labels and fields

On the other hand, if a form’s labels and input fields are arranged vertically, then it will be easier for your customers to view the information being requested and the ones they’re typing in.

This will help them feel secure about the transaction. It will also minimize them missing a field or, even worse, having to do it all over again.

In addition, minimize visual clutter from your forms. Your ‘What Is This’ and ‘Learn More’ buttons can be placed on the mobile version of your site. If you must have it on the form, place it somewhere on the page where it will not distract your customers from shopping.

3. Make Use of Collapsible Menus & Dropdown Lists

Another constraint caused by the limited view of mobile devices is that we have to do a lot of scrolling to see an entire page or fill up a form. While scrolling through screens is normal when using smartphones, many shoppers would prefer a speedy means of buying items online.

Make use of collapsible menus and dropdown lists

Using collapsible menus and dropdown lists can help you reduce the time spent by your customers in accomplishing mobile forms. Instead of making your customers scan until they find their choice in a pool of multiple options, you can group specific items into categories.

Collapsible menus are also useful for tying up the details of several major products that you want to put on a single page. Just remember not to start the details as collapsed.

Make use of collapsible menus and dropdown lists

4. Utilize Appropriate List Selections

In cases where dropdown lists or collapsible menus are not ideal for your mobile forms, you have two other options in open predictive search fields and locked dropped down lists.

An open predictive search field allows your customers to input keywords of the item or service they are looking for and lists the closest possible results. This kind of form is ideal for long searches or for products that do not follow any specific arrangements.

Utilize appropriate list selections

Locked dropdown lists, on the other hand, is ideal for listing specific items in the menu and in following a particular order, say alphabetical or chronological.

5. Opt for Single Input Entities

You’re probably familiar with input fields found in forms both in the desktop and mobile versions of websites. In some cases, these input fields are split into two to three sections, such as names, addresses, and phone numbers.

While this has a valid purpose in desktop versions of sites, it may not be as effective as when used in forms for mobile devices.

Opt for single input entities

More often than not, split input entities require mobile shoppers to tap into all three (or two) fields just to answer one label. If you’re going to do this a lot on one form, your customers might lose interest in proceeding to checkout.

In other cases, split entities can also be ambiguous and may confuse customers. When designing forms for mobile platforms, use simpler fields instead of splitting them.

For instance, instead of putting up two separate fields for a first name and a last name, use one field instead for a full name. This will help your customers accomplish the form faster.

6. Format Your Form’s Buttons

The ‘submit’ button is the final step to online shopping and also happens to be the most important button on your form. As such, you need to make it stand out so that your customers remain engaged until the end of the transaction.

Make the button in your form appealing by making its width about 1/3 of your form and by assigning it a bright color. Also, instead of simply using the words ‘submit’ or ‘send,’ use more energetic calls to action such as ‘Register Now’ or ‘Submit Application.’

Format your form buttons

However, avoid using colors that are too bright or make your buttons move too much because these may distract your customers from clicking.

You can use a subtle change in color or hover over the button when it’s clicked so that your customers would know that they’re finished with the transaction.

7. Set Scale with Viewport Meta Tag

The view a mobile device can provide customers may compel them to zoom the page, but accidentally doing so may make the shoppers lose focus on the page. You can control this by using a viewport meta tag on your forms.

This will prevent your customers from inadvertently zooming the page or, worse, losing track of the form altogether.

8. Exploit Data Persistence

Shopping via mobile phones can be daunting for some customers because there are more risks in clicking back to the previous page and reloading until your customer decides to abandon their cart after losing their data.

Mitigate this potential problem by giving your customers the option to open a new tab when they click any link that is not on the form.

Exploit data persistence

Also, in cases where they can’t go back to previous pages, give them warning signs such as ‘Agree,’ ‘OK,’ or ‘Cancel.’ By doing this, you’ll be able to tell your customers whether the data was stored in your site or the browser and help them decide to proceed to checkout.

9. Help customers track their progress

Not all shoppers are keen on filling out forms. It would help if you could provide them with a way to tell how close they are to being done.

You can do this by showing a progress bar on top of the form and determining which step they are – say, by percentage or just a simple chronology. Keep in mind to limit the steps as much as you possibly can to save your customers time.

Help customers track their progress

10. Make the Form Load Fast

Another factor you shouldn’t forget is the rate your mobile form loads. If the page takes a while to complete, your customer might not convert. The fact that your customers have reached the form tells you that they’re ready to buy.

Don’t disappoint them with slow-loading pages. The speed of your forms will also rely on the elements you put on the page, so be wary of big images.

As Always, Test Across Systems And Setups

These days, the variety of mobile devices and their interfaces can make tailoring your forms for each one a bit tough.

As such, make sure that you conduct tests of your forms on different types of mobile devices and take into account operating systems, sizes, and browsers. Through testing, you’ll be able to cover each base and make sure that your form works on every available device.

Everyone that creates a professional product and cares about their users, takes onboarding seriously. It plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the user and application. It is the foundation of a great user experience. It simply cannot be overlooked.

As there are many onboarding solutions available, to make things easier for you, we have prepared this collection of onboarding CSS and JavaScript code snippets. While they are not all teeming with artistic charm and extravagant illustrations, they will all give you a solid base for creating your own user-friendly onboarding UI.

1. Beautiful Onboarding UI by Fabio Ottaviani

Our first code example is an eye-pleasing onboarding solution that uses beautiful graphics and user-friendly animation. It is based on a conventional horizontal slider that offers the universally known three dots for navigation.

It has three screens, but you can easily increase that number to however many your project requires. Use this snippet if you would like to make your onboarding unobtrusive.

2. Onboarding Slides with jQuery by Hainer Savimaa

While the previous example takes a more traditional route to onboarding, this snippet makes use of a split layout, offering a carefully organized UI for displaying information that allows you to separate the visual content from the textual

Along with the classic dot-based navigation, there are also supporting “Next” and “Back” buttons for those who prefer traditional controls.

3. Simple Onboarding by Nahom Ebssa

This minimally designed onboarding snippet manages to accommodate all of the necessary information in one tiny screen while still providing a comfortable user experience.

As for the navigation, it may feel a little unfinished since there is no back button, but you could easily add that in yourself. On the whole, this code snippet could serve as a great foundation for your own onboarding UI.

4. Minimal Onboarding UI by Fersho Pls

Inspired by the outstanding onboarding screens created by Ennio Dybeli, this onboarding snippet, with its minimal design and smoothly animated behavior, isn’t anything ground-breaking in concept.

The details are standard, and the transitions are basic, yet they work together perfectly. The concept is simple yet straight-to-the-point. It is ideal for use on smaller projects.

5. Split-Screen Onboarding Carousel by Dario Corsi

We have already featured a split-screen layout, but this time, the onboarding UI has been rotated ninety degrees and transformed into a traditional stripe layout – looking pretty much like a basic slider from a few years ago.

Beyond that, it has the potential to cover all of the onboarding information that you need to deliver to users. Even though it has a relatively wide layout, you could quickly make it responsive.

6. Clasic Onboarding UI by Nick Wanninger

This snippet is not the kind of thing that wins over users with beautiful aesthetics or extraordinary animation. Rather, it serves as a base for your own onboarding creations. It does not have a particularly fancy design – just a classic structure.

Unlike the previous snippets, this component comes with short lines instead of dots and standard arrows for navigation instead of the words “Next” and “Back,” but the result still feels intuitive.

7. Android App Onboarding by Mat Swainson

This onboarding UI may look dated, but it does its job perfectly well. It comes in two parts. The first shows four standard carousel screens that can be used to offer visitors more information, and the second includes an email subscription form for those who want to get straight to the point by pushing the “Get Started” button.

8. Open-Source Liquid Swipe by Cuberto

We have looked at solutions that provide a base technique for showing a series of screenshots or animations in a row.

Liquid Swipe is a bit different. It is centered around a transition effect that perfectly imitates a liquid swipe behavior that feels incredibly natural. You can download the files from its GitHub repo.

In essence, an onboarding UI can be created using a basic carousel system. All you need to do is divide each slide into two parts.

One for content, and the other for navigation. After that, you can add your own creative flair and transition effects to make the user experience not just informative but enjoyable as well.

How Are In-App Gestures Shaping User Experience? https://speckyboy.com/in-app-gestures-user-experience/ https://speckyboy.com/in-app-gestures-user-experience/#respond Fri, 19 Feb 2021 21:07:59 +0000 https://speckyboy.com/?p=106740 Remember the time when hovering and clicking using the mouse were the most used triggers for interaction with a website or mobile app? Remember the time when hovering and clicking using the mouse were the most used triggers for interaction with a website or mobile app? Forget about those days.

The game changed when Apple introduced the first fully touchscreen smartphone in 2007. Since that time gestures have become the new clicks, and they still are one of the hottest trends in UI design today. These intuitively understandable gestures have dramatically changed the way we think about interaction with our mobile devices.

Mobile gestures have an impact on user experience. No matter what kind of a mobile app you create, you’ll have to integrate gestures into your mobile design. Here are three reasons why.

In-app gestures make your mobile app content-focused

Gesture-based navigation helps to free up the screen space and put content into the center of the user’s attention. The minimalism of navigation elements allows users to focus on exploring and utilizing an app without distractions.

There are plenty of ways to get more free space for your valuable content, for example, eliminate excessive buttons or hide the menu providing access to it when users swipe right. That’s one of the basic gestures in iOS and Android, so users are very likely to be familiar with it.

You can use gestures to create content teases, making an effect of subtle visual clues, which indicate what’s possible. Just look at the example below. It simply demonstrates that other cards exist behind the current card and this makes it clear that swiping is possible.

Example of in-app animation mobile app

The mix of animation and mobile gestures make UX more lively

We’ve come to a point when usefulness is not enough to create a successful mobile app. Modern users are so demanding that they’ll be satisfied only if your app is attractive too. And there is no better way to make your UX more lively than incorporating a combination of in-app gestures and animation into your mobile design.

The animation is the primary way that user interfaces signal users to complete an action or task.

According to the e-book “Interaction Design and Complex Animations” these are 5 the most important functions of animation such as:

 1. Animated notifications
 2. Revealing information
 3. Highlighting content
 4. Collapsing forms and menus
 5. Scrolling

Think of how many of these animations you use in the apps you touch daily. Smooth animations that follow touch activities can also make user’s interactions with a mobile app more enjoyable.

Finally, when using mainly touch and swipe gestures accompanied by animated effects you can keep the UI of your app pleasing, lively, clean and minimalistic.

Are facial gestures going to change UX?

Fingerprints, facial or voice recognition, and iris scan aren’t a part of a spy movie plot anymore. While the products with a biometric-based technology are overtaking traditional login requirements, facial gestures have started changing the UX.

Facial expressions are getting a lot of attention in the world of technology right now. That means UX designers should start incorporating these unique forms of personal identification and identity management in their mobile apps. This may help both end-users and businesses using this technology carry up the security to the next level.

Face tracking has greater potential than you might imagine. Not only just the pile of poo saying “I love you” and copying your facial expressions. On the other hand, it’s too early to say that face recognition can replace good old touch and swipe mobile gestures in iOS or Android.

Conclusion

Maybe not completely aware of it, but on a daily basis, we use a dozen types of gestures to interact with touchscreen devices. And we’re tending to use them even more often in 2019.

In-app gestures, animation, and facial recognition are the top priorities designers should keep in mind creating new mobile app interfaces in 2019. Today, a huge UX industry engine keeps working to deliver more futuristic and seamless products to users. So, keep this in mind and make your apps not only useful but entertaining too. Simple and familiar to use.

In today’s competitive market, how well gestures are implemented into the user experience will significantly decide about the success of the mobile app.
